Pilot Comments for EDSB
Robbie
Landed from EDDN to have lunch and break up the journey back to the UK. We landed on a Monday and everything nearby was shut. Ended up getting a taxi to France over the bridge for lunch in the nearby shopping mall. Expensive lunch of 30 EUR + 50 EUR taxi.
GAT is automated, so no personal contact and all via the telephone and buzzer system.
Cost paid via Aerops app.
19.25 EUR Landing Fee
13.04 EUR Parking Fee
£27.73
JetA1 was expensive for an uplift of 32 litres.
Brice
Easy airport, automated gate entry, they will check your passport and license by video to get back to the plane.
nice town to spend weekend.

EDSB is well suited for general aviation, especially IFR operations. Both VFR and IFR arrivals and departures are straightforward, with professional and friendly ATC. The airport offers full instrument procedures, including RNAV SIDs, though the northern SID can be steep (up to 7.6% to 4000 ft) when glider activity is present. Airline traffic does not interfere with GA due to the separate GAT location on Apron 4 at the south end of the field. No PPR is required for customs, which is always available; passport checks for non-Schengen flights are conducted at the aircraft or GAT.
Landing and parking fees are moderate for an airport of this size and infrastructure. For aircraft up to 1400 kg, landing fees are about €10–20 including three hours parking; above 1400 kg, landing fees are about €30–40, with overnight parking typically around €10–20 extra. Example: landing and one night parking about €45. Payment is simple via Aerops app or by leaving details at the GAT.
Facilities include automated GAT access with video ID checks for re-entry, self-serve Avgas (BP Carnet required), Jet A1 by BP bowser, drinks and coffee machines, and a choice of restaurants such as Rizzi and Le Bistro on site. App2Drive car sharing vehicles are available at the GAT; taxi numbers are posted at the exit, but walking to the main terminal takes 15–20 minutes. Car hire (e.g., Hertz) is based in the main terminal but can arrange pickup/drop-off at the GAT if contacted in advance.
The GA apron lacks tie-down points and chocks; bring your own if needed. The airport is generally quiet for GA but can be busier due to airline operations; expect possible runway direction constraints during peak times. Security procedures can be strict but efficient.
Overall, EDSB offers efficient handling, good value for its category, easy customs arrangements without prior notice, and convenient ground transport options for non-commercial general aviation pilots.
