Aberdeen (EGPD) accommodates both IFR and VFR general aviation traffic, with ATC experienced in handling mixed operations alongside commercial jets and helicopters. IFR arrivals are straightforward, and facilities are described as excellent. For VFR arrivals from the south, the route is via Stonehaven and the coast, with typical altitude not above 1000 ft if runway 34 is in use. Signature Flight Support is the primary GA handler; space outside their office is limited, and parking arrangements should be coordinated in advance. Contact Signature at 01224 723636 or abz@signatureflight.co.uk before arrival.
Charges include a departure fee of about £50, a CAA navigation charge of about £24, and additional parking and handling fees depending on duration and parking location. Example: departure charge about £50. Fuel is available but considered expensive. Access to the aircraft is convenient when using Signature, bypassing main terminal security procedures.
Passengers typically disembark at the main terminal before repositioning to overnight parking, with boarding possible at ramp E. Car hire can be arranged through handlers, with previous examples of low-cost rentals via Enterprise. The airport environment can experience local sea fog (haar), which may cause below-limits weather conditions very locally. Procedures vary; see AIP/NOTAM.
